[Art] WHo wants a D&D character in my new scene? :)

makign a new scene, group of adventurers on a sampan (small ship) going up an eerie river.

I am making the ship's owner (scraggly Asian-like fella).

had ideas of a caucasian or elf female crossbow rogue
black mystic-warrior (not "African", per se, more like mythic Egyptian-Nubian)
not sure on other characters may add 1 or 2

So anyway if you want to see a character of yours, post a description, race etc, and I may add 'em.

I think you need an old wizened crone, a cleric or some such. For contrast with the hot elf crossbow chick who should be wearing old EQ style assless pants.
Hey boy... why don't you get off of my ferns?

My first long lasting character was a Native-American ranger. His name was Chingatchkuk (gee, wonder what movie I was watching when I made this guy up). He was human and he had long black hair with braids. He also had a leather strap with an eagle feather decoration hanging down in the back. He appeared in the traditional native american clothing and initially fought with a bow and spear. Later on as he advanced he became proficient with a long sword as well. By the end, he carried a long bow (unstrapped most the time) and a short bow (for when there wasn't time to prepare the long bow). He still had the spear attached to his backpack and he did have a pretty potent sword if I recall correctly. I think it had a lighting proc to it.

I played him as the typical honorable warrior, but he also turned into the voice of reason (and the collective conscience) of the party.

Basically, I was looking for a way to make something different than the typical human ranger. I started thinking the one culture I had read very little about in a fantasy setting (at that time...I was just out of high school) was native American culture so that's why it appealed to me. Being a ranger just felt like the natural class for one.

    Luxum
    ah, assless pants, yum yum

    Dramadon,
oddly enough, my cousin played a character very like that!
In my homebrew campaign, partof the background is that people from Earth and counter Earth's came there (well, the Gods wanted the place repopulated after a catastrophic war).

So, you have plains dwelling native Americans (who have to continually migrate to avoid the tarrasque's depredations) and the Anasazi in the volcanic mountains
they have a rivalry with a ROman empire (well, counter Roman) who can't invade because of the tarrasque, but all of 'em hate the orcs etc in the mountains even more, and have a mutual trade route though a deep river canyon (the alternate of the Grand Canyon).

    Was great fun

That sounds like a pretty cool world to play in, although I'd hate to be a level 1 newb running from a tarrasque!

There's my current major character. Elven true neutral cleric of "The Island" (Campaign specific deity, we've been on a plane completely controlled by it.)

He's pretty much become the most powerful cleric on the plane though, what with becoming an avatar of a god and all. Ritual that did that to him left him bald, with tattooed lines all over his head and arms. Eyes crackle with lightning when angered, the works.

Visually: Stormlord prestige class, master of storms and other weather. Tends to summon hurricanes in battle, and release shrapnel into the wind, since it can't hit him, and can use high winds like a wizard uses telekenisis. Carries a spear and javelins which are empowered by lightning and thunder when he holds them. Wears "Weeping" scale mail, which is a scale mail that drips with water. Holy symbol is a small circle patterned into his armor.

One of my favorite parts is the artifact we came across that I solo cleansed and turned into a pocket dimension temple/storage space. We actually smuggled an entire army into an enemy camp in it.

One of my favorites, by far, but he might be a little too powered up for what you were going for. Dunno. Took him from 1 to 15 over the course of two years.

I've got a few other ones I can post.

Yeah, I have an archeologist rogue/sorceror (think Daniel from Stargate...I didn't make him with that in mind, but that's what he turned into over time) but I figured you had the rogue aspect covered and my wizard, Dramadon. He was based off of a middle eastern/Persian type culture out of Calimport. But again, Egyptian is pretty close to this guy as well (although from a group standpoint its more likely the members will be from the same culture).

Geeze I wish I had the time and people for a good campaign again. Man I miss being in college sometimes (although I do kind of like having some money).

meh. We haven't really been able to game this year. Most of the group has part time jobs now with no days off at the same times. All kinds of suck.

    Dramadon,
well, the mystic warrior dude may look very likely then, actually
Currently have him dual wielding picks, but can change it. He's rather cool

    scene background is moslty done.

    Quelian
tell me about it bud only had one 4th ed game so far this year (well 1 and a half) and some shots of playing my cousin's 3rd ed/d20 modern 1970s weird but cool game.

Spoiler for Ass kicking mystic warrior! or your Calimport dude with some changes?:

I like the ass kicking mystic warrior! Only because I played him longer. I always imagined the Calimport dude would be cloaked in robes, more traditional Islamic type garb...and places to hide spell components.

One thing though, does he just carry around the picks in his hands, or does he have a place to put them when he's not using them? (Yeah, I know, in fantasy games they don't go to the bathroom either )

He looks great btw, lots of detail!

yeah just how DO you carry sodding akward things liek those, eh?! imagine a monrgnistar...ouch..or thosepicks with edges blades, sitting down on 'em, eh?

    Queilian

Across the back I imagine. And that's what I thought, SB. I doubt he fits. He wouldn't ever travel by boat anyway when he can just fly instead.

    Dramadon
k think I've foudn a suitable skin texture for him, see how it goes

    Quelian
yeah, I think be safest if the blades, being so wide, were at shoulde rand handle down at yer hip, for carrying?
No worries bud I've got scale mail textures just not any scale mail MODELLED armour, which would look better.

Well, he used to wear chain shirts. His first incarnation was the "speedy" cleric.

So how did you get so damned good at that anyway? I wish I could make pictures of my characters like that.

Re: [Art] WHo wants a D&D character in my new scene? :)

    Quelian,
hey I don't MAKE those characters mate
you take a basic human model
buy, get or make a suitable skin texture
do the same for clothes, hair weapons

put together in "Poser", assemble, pose

load that into another app, Vue
mess with the materials to get it good

that's that figure done, then I import it into a scene I build bit by bit.

current one I had idea of a lost river, prehistoric, mystic, bit liek River World mixed with Land That Time Forgot.

So, made canyon walls from "terrains" basically imagine taking a mountain, turning it sidewys, stretching it out, and "painting" it to make it high or low, thus I made cnayon walls

then apply a material to cover it, I made one that blends form mossy green at bottom, damp from the mist etc, to rock at top

then, add terrains, level this time, sculpted them (again you paint them to be high or low etc), to be sandbars/land at bottom of cliff

    and lots of other stuff

this is the character set I bought for the "Heroic mystic", awesome stuff, THAT takes hell of a lot of skill/effort to build, believe me. Hence I spend my limited shekels upon their gorgeous works, cause I cooldn't make 'em
    http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/s...item=8295&_m=d

my skill's making them look good in scenes, note most Poser work only has 1 or maybe 2 characters...with fuzzy or close backgrounds, not scenes.

tutorial on my site explains how to import and "fix" Poser folk to look good.
yes I am a f*cking genius at that
but if I was a good artist, rather than a determined bungler, I'd be able to paint it in the first place!

I agree completely with this, which is probably why I enjoy your work so much. Scenes are much more fun to look at.
