True. A warlock with a succubus out can CC darn near anything.

Humanoids - seduce
Demons - Banish
Elementals - Banish
Beasts - Fear
Untyped - Fear
Unfearable - Drain Tank (not really applicable in heroics)

There is no reason a warlock cannot pick and choose the pet for the pull though.

in all seriousness, heroics should never be taken lightly. Even in t6, if we fuck around we get stomped. You get a gung-ho tank leading, pulling because "I need to go before I lose rage!" with that hint of a joke in his voice, and bam, you've pulled more than you can handle..

Really? I don't know, maybe it's just because our "core" group of officers all leveled together through this content but my experience is about the opposite. We still did drunken heroic stomps right up until I retired and even in mixed T5/6 and with our tank in dps-type gear it was damned hard to actually wipe ourselves. Oh, no doubt as the mage I'd splat myself on occasion (going for wtfpwn on the damage meters in heroics was always a bad idea when your tank is full of jagermeister) but unless we were in Durnhold we'd just push the limit as hard as we could.

It sure does help when you know every single pull and boss inside and out of course and working in the same 5-man (out of a pool of around 12 regulars) for so very long makes all the difference.

I'm definitely not saying that heroics are trivial when you first start doing them. They most definitely are not. Hell, running the first trials through SH back when was horribly evil and in many ways was the hardest stuff in the whole expansion for us. That goddamn Ogre killed me more times than I can count. That was in crappy blues though and before some rather key nerfs/bugfixes. These days they really are not that bad even for poorly-geared alts however.
