    Trading card questions

OK, I'm looking at the card game site, and I see the ogre costume trinket, and that it's purchased with the accumulated points from buying a stupid number of packs. The question is HOW many that is. And once someone has drained the family bank account for the cards, where does one redeem them? I don't see anything on the site.

(And is anyone going to save up for a blue tabard with a random thingie on it? Or the fireworks trinket?)

I wonder how much someone has to pay to get Satan to give them buisness advice.

I spend enough money on this with my monthly subscription. I don't need to feed more into a Blizzard cash cow such as these cards.

There will be those without enough self discipline who will go overboard on this and spend money that they shouldn't be spending..sort of like insta lottery tickets at the local deli. Especially so since this is is more or less targeted at younger people who may not know better.

Some people no doubt will drool over some of the in game goodies and go overboard trying to get them. I think this whole card thing is a bad idea and does nothing more than show a greedy corporate side to Blizzard that really is not part of WoW. Maybe the panda chinese food takeout thing is not so far fetched after all.

The above is just a personal opinion about the whole card thing. To each his or her own and if you want to get involved in it..go ahead..but just do yourself a favor and don't go overboard with this thing.

Well, I have no idea how many points you need for the Ogre suit, but it's probably a helluvalot.
But as it says on the point cards in the cardpacks, you can redeem them at www.ude.com/points
Though for some reason, the system doesn't seem to be online yet, which is pretty crappy now that the cards are out.

Also there is an gobo in Booty Bay where you can redeem the codes in-game and get the stuff from points and the special cards that gives things like the turtle mount and so forth. But that doesn't seem to be working either, atleast it didn't when we tried monday.

About people spending stuff on cards to get fun things in WoW...Well, I suppose the right way of looking at it, is seeing the in-game items as a bonus. Not the reason to buy the cards in the first place.
Especially since the cardgame seems fun to play, although very Magic like.

Nm. It was a stupid response and I should have left it alone. (No coffee today.)

I'm actually planning on picking up a pair of starter decks and a box of boosters. I haven't played a good card game since Shadowrun.

Download the Rulebook on this page...

Page 1 of the rulebook: There's a Leeroy Jenkins card!?
Page 8: The Arcanite Reaper was nerfed! Shamans cannot use! Bwahahahaha
Page 5: Each card has a series number... and that number is colored according to the rarity. White, green, blue, purple, orange!

    I love it already!

Ringo I have respect for you and your opinions here..they carry weight.
I am not knocking this card game, just passing along an opinion that I feel it detracts from what is happening on line and can be an expensive proposition..a word of caution is warranted.

I don't want to see WoW jump the shark and kill itself with over exposure. Not yet anyway. I don't understand the attraction to these card games...but do understand human nature and how addictive and hurtful some of this stuff can be.

One thing I GOTTA say.... the artwork is fucking amazing. The card quality is excellent too.

This guy did a bunch of cards including my fave in my first pack though it's not shown on his site.

There's a very good FAQ listed here that I haven't been able to successfully copy and preview here.

Yeah, glancing at the official site shows the art is awesome, much better than the WoW pen and paper RPG books (which had some nice pieces).

Oooh, thanks for the link, Mileron! I thought this set was going to be boring like the playing cards from Blizzcon (the graphics were recycled). Looking at the various pictures of different races, I'm now curious if there are any cards with dwarven females on them as I'd purchase those individually and use them as a bookmark or something. (If the prices are reasonable like a dollar or two.)

I already own a "mini-Beli" thanks to Ringo's investigative skills! (I wasn't willing to buy the game just to get that miniature so this was a real treat.)

Haven't seen any Dwarf females at all depicted on the cards. The Priest hero card for the Alliance is a Dwarf, but male. http://www.wowcards.org/cards/boris-brightbeard/112/

Oooh, that kicks ass! I'd definitely buy that individually if there's nothing else available. Even when we've moved on from WoW, it'd be a nice reminder of when we played the game. I have nothing to remind me of my time in EQ. It was all online and basically vaporized when the account was cancelled. A Fironia Vie calendar or t-shirt wasn't going to cut it -- a bookmark or maybe a coffee mug with a gnome female on it would have gone a lot farther. I guess that's why fan art is so popular -- it's the only form of fandom we can get our hands on.

I realize that I'm not really in the position to complain about the lack of dwarven female products (wtf is with the night elves female being the icon for everything?) because the horde females have it way worse than we do.

BTW, Ringo wins this thread. He saw my "no coffee" comment and hand delivered a nice warm cup from Starbucks personally to me at work. (I work earlier than he does.)

Night elf = pretty. When you have posters and stuff you want pretty girls, as in models, on it. Our female dwarven main tank is described as chubby by our fellow raiders. She won't have any of it though and insist that she is "curveous".

A female night elf was also one of the iconic heroes of War3, along with Arthas, Jaina, Thrall, Grom and Cairne. (And a different one was one of the iconics of War3X.)

I saw the cards today and they look really cool (Great Fantasy art). That being said, Blizzard ought to be ashamed.
But the famous magician’s maxim held true: two magicians – in this case Dr Foxcastle and Mr Hunt or Hart – could not agree without two more thinking the exact opposite.
