Lockpicking

Saw some other posts on this but I’m looking for some current advice.

I started a little late in lock picking past 90, I’m at 162 skill right now at level 46. The lock boxes I get off 40+ are the study lockboxes and I cannot pick them, apparently that’s skill 175+
I read some forums and it said to go skill up on instance doors (example gnomer) and I can only get one skill up per time I’m in there. So I’ve resorted to picking level 35-40’s and getting a few boxes now and then and rarely getting a skill up because the boxes are green. 160-162 took me 45 minutes. Is there another way? I also haven’t fished up a lockbox since new patch.
Any advice? Or do I just need to tough it out?

Actually what's pretty funny is I got to level 165 from the single chest in the plundering the plunders quest boat. Just go down and click on your lockpick skill then the chest, I got to level 165 in no time. Then from there I went to Desolace and pickpocketed the high level nuetral factioned Centaur for boxes that can skill you up to 175. Hope you get the skill ups you need.

Does Polly spawn every time you pick that chest?

doesn't seem to, he pops when you first get downt here, but aggro range is so small, its not a big deal. that chest can get you to 175. from 175 you can do SM doors, pick both, if youre high enough lvl go to cathedral and pick that door, reset instance, then repeat. 3 skillups per 15 mins or so, and when you get higher level you can kill doan and the hidden door guy in cathedral for loot. this is slow and annoying imo to try to find people to help you reset the instance each time, but it works.

OK I'm level 16 now and I'm kind of lost regarding lockpicking. I went to the thieves' guilds in night elf city, IF, and SW and didn't find anyone giving out a lockpicking quest. There were some chests by the tree in night elf city, but they didn't appear to be pickable. According to the link below there should be a quest in the main cities - am I looking in all the wrong places or something? I went ahead and just bought lockpicking and my tool kit (broke now doh) but I'd like to skill up on the practice chests if I can.

I did an Alliance lockpicking quest in Redridge mountains. There's a ton of practice chests north of Lakeshire in the barn where the spiders are near.

The quest reward is a certificate of thievery. You might want to search under that.

My little rogue still has that in his inventory. Is that certificate ever used again, or can I safely dispense with it?
