New Dungeon - Maraudon
In the vast gray of Desolace lies the earthen tomb of Zaetar, fallen Keeper of the Grove and son of Cenarius. Zaetar rejected his Keeper heritage when he joined with the princess of the chaotic earth elementals, Theradras. Their unholy union gave birth to the misshapen and cursed centaur, who promptly slew their father for his part in their misbegotten creation. Fearful of Cenarius' wrath, the grief-stricken Theradras sequestered her dead lover's body in her secret sanctuary, the Crystal Caverns of Therramok, where she watches over him to this day. Travelers who come to Desolace have little trouble spotting Zaetar's tomb, for the blessing of nature that permeates his being transformed his resting place into a verdant paradise of flora and tranquil pools. Today, this tomb is now trodden by the hooves of Zaetar's children, who have claimed this great cavern as their sacred stronghold Maraudon.
Maraudon, a level 40-49 dungeon in Desolace, is now open and ready for business.

This dungeon is fucking HUGE.

What is the environment like? The description says it's all fauna and such. It also says it is a Centaur Fortress. . .so I'm wondering what it looks like. A green cave? or what? Also, what is a good level range? Blizzard's projected level ranges are always screwy.
here are some screenshots from a french fansite :

It's a pretty neat dungeon. Yes, it's a giant cavern complex, but the mobs are a bit different, and the theme is part wailing caverns, part blackfathom deep, part Blackrock depths, with some mean and nasty stuff in there.
We went in with a group lvl 44-51, got to one point and wiped twice to a rather mean set of mobs. Overall it was pretty sweet, some good drops and some decent quests. Although i wasn't able to run around to find all the quests involving this new dungeon, there are two located at Nigel's point for alliance with some very nice rewards.
I liked it a lot more than I liked WC. WC and the two Razorfens are the worst dungeons in the game though, so that isn't saying much. Still though, it wasn't bad, and now I have an item that lets me portal to the middle of the dungeon so I can quickly get to the good parts.![]()

It's part of the big zone "event" sort of thing. It's a great dungeon, very fun and despite it's size, semi-quick. A lot of really nice drops too. Overall I really liked the zone, looking forward to going back.
some basic info:
there is a front door and a back door. the dungeon has ae content throughout, so a mage is in fact handy. most of the dungeon can't be polymorphed by said mage, however. the quests are mostly located in niegel's point for alliance and there is a roaming centaur in the south who also gives a quest.

The fortunate is seldom satisfied with the fact of being fortunate. Beyond this, he needs to know that he has a right to his good fortune.
There's also one in Theramere from the human arch mage for the missing diplomat as well. nice 10 int neclace off it or a + 20 atk power.
Does the Orange side connect to the purple side somewhere?
Did you guys even realize there were to instance entrances in there?

I liked WC![]()
I finished this dungeon last night. it is definately now 40-49, it looks more like 45-55. it's harder than zul'farrak by a large margin. difficulty aside, the dungeon is simply amazing. there is lots of great loot and its design is impeccable. the scenery is beautiful and varied, moving from tainted and vile to mysterious and spiritual to primordial. I came out with something like 7 pieces of very good loot, like 17int shoulders, a sword with +crit rate to spells, 12int/spir/sta boots, a cure trinket, among other things.
I recommend a group of low 50s to clear the whole place with. otherwise I would pack a main healer with a hybrid healer down there. my pick for maurudon involves a druid(mezz), paladin(rezz, heals), mage(ae), rogue(sap/scout), warrior(MT/offtank) but this is pretty much my regular group.
khan locations for trinket loot:
1st- inside cave at the junction between purple/orange side
2nd- Under instance portal in a tunnel, purple crystal side
3rd- Orange side outside the instance near crystal pool
4th- Inside the instance, purple side, before the drop roaming
5th- Inside instance, orange side, before the drop roaming
Reward is +25 all stat 1 min duration, 2% chance on hit. utterly fantastic for tanks, worthless for others. The staff from the end quest is the equivilant of 120 spirit, so is very awesome too.
also be sure not to miss these out of the way bosses:
Goblin Tinkererish Nameguy: Down a path in the big green area that is very steep. You should scout with a rogue if you want him, he has great drops.
Real Big FIsh: Around main boss area swimming in the water. jump in but beware of the hydras. we found him twice near goblin guy since the exit onto land from water is neat him.
The quest for the portal in is severely bugged. if you want the staff you complete the quest and reset the npc later. exiting instance and coming back in later worked for us.
