    death of the wizard class.

Having been a lvl 60 wiz for about 8 months, I have never seen the morale of the wizards in general so low. Wizards are quitting left and right on my server, looks like verant is accomplished what they have seemed to have always wanted . The death of the wizard class.

    Sadly you are spot on.

A lot of the >50 wizzies seem to be quitting right now on Rodcet.

The final straw for me was seeing that comment from the fanfaire where they wouldn't up mana regen for us. It just added to the crushing evidence that they:

    a) don't see the problem.
    b) are scared to mess with balance for us.
    c) whoever does magic in EQ gets bullied by all the melee advocates.

Frankly I suspect is a combination of the three.

I've been 'not-playing' for three weeks taking a holiday, but I think I may restart soon as I haven't seen quite all of the zones that I wanted to before I could feel my work was done. Frankly there are only a couple left though.

    Re: ?

I have been a wizard for 55 levels and over 6 mounths.

When i started wizard Moral was at rock bottom, it has consistently remained there.
To be honest, there are a number of reasons for it, and most of us know them in detail.

However, we as a class, are NOT going to quit en-mass or even any faster than any other class.
We will also NOT stop complaning about the fact that verant's vision prevents class balance.
This situation is the status quo, and will remain so until something majorly Significant (like the end of EQ) happens.

    I dont understand

I have a wizard character and love it. I dont think I will ever get rid of her.

My non understanding is this though. Why can't people accept their role in a group. It seems for the most part Wizzys are ok with their solo abilities. So lets talk about groups.

First off my main is a Warrior. When I ask a wizard a into my group I don't always tell them how I want them to use their class. Most just say I know how to play my class. Then they sit around with no mana. Go figure.

If wizards would learn that they are not "depended on to run the save the group or make the group super destructve. They would be happier. I like wizzys in my group to do what they can without going OOM. If that means a root here and a super nuke in a timely spot there then so be it. They are serving their purpose without going OOM and therefore affecting the group in a positive way.

Wizards have so much to offer any group. Its if they know how to do it and expect the other group members to understand that all would be great.

Wizards offer far more than just "super nuke" after "super nuKe". They offer a security blanket of sorts and are very useful.

I wish more wizards and all other non wizards would learn this.

    Re: I dont understand

I think right now its a case of there are so few 50+ wizards (at least on my server) that you notice when one leaves (compare number of wizards vs. warriors).

Over nuking is something that can happen with in the wizard class. I've done it in the past- but hopefully now I know when/how/what to cast. The only time I go for over nuke? When cleric is lom/oom and medding like crazy to heal tanks. At the same time, if the situation is really dicey, I know just how much mana I need to evac out (and pray cleric hasn't cast a version of divine aura).

    "Blah Blah Blah.

And you're also in the 15% column of the 60 wizards who feel this way. Its comments like this that continue to make Verant believe nothings wrong. If you aren't unhappy, great play and have fun, but keep your mouth shut because all you do is make the experience of others worse. Honestly if Verant made wizards better, would that be NEGATIVE? No.

Go back to farming your ghey POG armor, gimp.

    hey marcin
I agree with him. Wizards are not needed/wanted in grps at high lvls which sucks. However I do like the new Xlocate spells they have on test. We are the masters of travel but until recent we have been equal to druids. now we can port people without having to move.

Woah is me, Im a weak wizard, no groups want me because I can't hurt a fly.

Its all BS. Sure, there are some minor improvements I would like but its not all doom and gloom especially at 60!

We are balanced at 60 especially with our two new spells.

Just tonight, I was the 7th person in a group (I was solo) the group was all 55+ they had a warrior, monk, bard, necro, cleric and enchanter. I had to hold back so I would not keep KSing them!

Quiet frankly, if your having issues at level 60, its you, its not the class.

Sorry man but that was the dumbest thing I have ever heard. How can you even say those two new spells balance us? They do SHIT. Dragonbane works on like 5 dragons total and Giantbane only works on some Giants. THEY DO CRAP and have nothing to do with us wanted to be grped.
I get grps all the time but it is because I start grps but if you go into seb u see like 4 wizards lfg

I really don't know why they are having troubles, I usually get 3 or 4 tells within moments of logging on if I want to group. It was not always this way. I remember at 39 one person specifically told me he does not group with wizards because they suck. However at the higher levels I never had a problem. I have even had people beg me to group with them because they wanted a wizard. Perhaps my server is different (shrugs)

Note: my 3rd wizard is on Bert, I got out of there at level 40. Bert is not a wizard friendly server, that could be your problem.

I am guessing that you are in one of the top guilds on your server. Personally I am unguilded.
Most likely people are trying to suck up to you cause they want to get in your guild.
    Just a guess

We are in the top 3 in terms of what we can kill. However, we were Pontificate Lusus on Bert and in our day, before we moved to Luclin, we were in the top three there too. I always had problems grouping on Bert. That was before many of the improvements to our class too though.

    Unguilded?

Unguilded and you have the shaft of four? How did you go about achieving this, if I might ask. Currently Venril is dominated by two guilds on my server and I'm having a hard time envisioning even getting a shot.

    Re: Unguilded?

Valendorn you must be a low level wizard, maybe in your 40's I don't know. But there is no way in hell a single wizard can ks a group of 6 unless that group of 6 is made up of players 10 levels below you.

Let me give you an example. I was lvl 57 at the time in a group of 6. My lvl 57 wizard, 2 level 60 wizards, 2 druids, and a bard. We had another group made up of 5 melees and a cleric. We were doing Kael killing the uber giants. How many kills do you think our group got? There were about 40-50 various pulls. How many did we get? half maybe? well, maybe you'd say due to downtime maybe 1/3 of the kills. Nope. Not even close. We got 0 kills (exp kills). The other group got EVERY single exp kill. We even tried, med up to full mana and everyone in the group went full out, non stop casting of their best spells (every spell hit for full dmg) and we still didn't get a single kill. Melee classes WAY outdamage us at higher levels. It's so rediculous, they even held back on a few to let us try to get exp and we couldn't. Their dmg is insane. Rogues can double backstab each round for up to 513 dmg each bs. EACH, up to 2x PER ROUND. How do we compare to that? To even come close we'd need a 1 second, 100 mana, 1000 dmg spell that has 0 recycle time.

Don't give us that load of bs you're tryign to feed that wizards are balanced. WE ARE NOT AND NEVER WILL BE BALANCED. Get that through your thick skull. ANd get some levels, then you'll maybe begin to understand.

    Re: Unguilded?

I agree with both sides actually. The wiz class has changed from pre to postkunark. There is no way Verrant will give us the ability to the same types of dmg we used to enjoy. The best way to use the wiz is to save mana for when you fight a caster mob, gater, healer, etc... We really earn our pay during bad pulls when a mob needs to be dropped fast.

Unfortunately, if I go to fear nowadays and grouped with 2 other wiz, my group will never see any exp. We do less dmg than most tanks nowadays during a fight. The expanded hate list killed our chance to get exp by hitting mobs with high dmg spells(ice comet). Anyone who doesn't think so should parse the data...

Changing the rain spells helped alot, but still need a mage to maloise the mobs so dont have 2 out of 3 resis. I hope they figure a way to keep our dmg output up, we are supposed to be the dmg casters after all.

    re:

Can't speak much for the post 50 game but I think pre 50 we are pretty much ok. I didn't have problems in groups pre-50 and I didnt have problems getting groups. I've been playing my SK mostly lately though and can't speak for post-50 groups or high hitpoint/resist velious stuff. Old world dragons we apparantly rock though, since even though I'm unguilded at the moment I have to go anon or get spammed with requests to join naggy/vox raids. It was charming at first, but got old quickly

And is it just me, or do the old world dragoon loot seem to be highly melee biased?

    What id like to see

I would like to see what you wizards have to say about the amount of damage you do compared to the damage of Magicians, Enchanters, and Necros.

Seeing as how Wizards are Int casters and belong with the other Int casters. Lets here how you much up next to those of your kind.

Its silly to here Wizards complain about damg ratio with Melee's. Melee's sole purpose is doing damage and taking damage. It's just bloody logical any caster will not equal them.

So compare Wizards damage to other caster classes. That what I want to here about!
