Apparently, GMail invites and emails are being altogether blocked by hotmail and sent to bulkmailer folder by yahoo. there doesn't seem to be hard proof, so take away from the read what you will.
If it is indeed the truth, that is really about as low as you can go. Service might be free at the above places, but free shouldn't imply free from ethics IMO.

I got mine into my regular hotmail folder np np.
I was using the medium level spam security, if you set it higher perhaps it gets culled.
Spam filters work, at least partly, by knocking anything that looks like it was sent to a large number of people at once. If a GMail invite is sent as part of a mass mailing, of course a restrictive spam filter would get it -- and it should. Mass mailings = spam.
The gmail invites were sent from my account I think.
I believe that was pure rumor from the moment it started.

That was a complete rumor with the people who claimed they couldn't receive their GMail e-mail not looking in the junk mail folder.
Which you would have known, if you had RTFC.
anyone know if u can put Gmail in outlook?
if I am not mistaken you can put yahoo there if ya know their smtp/pop3 server addy.
should work for gmail too... but I'm guessing here.

It's basically a Google version of Hotmail. Their main features are a huge amount of storage space available (several years worth, barring large attachments), without ads. If you already have Exchange or IMAP e-mail, you really don't need gmail, since Outlook's search feature will do the same as gmail's (as will that of many mail clients). They suggest that with a search enhanced by Google's features, you no longer need to sort your e-mail. Though to be honest, I prefer to sort my e-mail anyway.
It's in beta at the moment, though. I'll stay out of it and let others use it. My IMAP is hosted on my home server and I have access to my e-mail from any computer with access to the net already. (/huggles www.ilohamail.org)
EDIT: Since I just had a reason to be controlling my mail server (unlike Microsoft, I actually install patches on my servers), I took a minute to check how much hard drive space my mail is taking up. GMail claims to give 1gb for e-mail. For comparison, I've got 3 years' worth of e-mail stored on my IMAP. The messages themselves are taking up 47mb, and the attachments are taking up 350mb. With GMail, it'll be a long time before you run out of space. I can't help but ask where they're finding all the hard drive space, though....

Google Ads may turn up some ironic advertisements once in awhile, but that is solely the fault of the advertisers and the words they choose, and webmasters not utilizing the adsense code properly.
I'd much rather see some lawyer ads when reading about terrorist suspects or perhaps an ad for a poker book when i visit a poker site than a fucking popup for the x10 and some bash the fucking monkey bullshit.
